TRINITY FAIR
(Results on the day are given below)
Bottisham & District Gardening Club will be holding a Rose Show and Junior Section at the Church's Trinity Fair, to be held this year in the Vicarage gardens on Saturday, 12 June. This is a new venture for the Gardening Club and we hope it will be well supported by both members of the Club and the local community.
Members of the committee have been to the Primary School to discuss the revised classes in the Junior Section, and the head teacher, Mr Paul Belzar is very enthusiastic. We hope to see significantly more entries from children of all ages than we have had at our Annual Show in previous years.
Proposed classes are as follows:
JUNIOR SECTION
Entries will be free and monetary prizes will be awarded in the following classes:
1. A decorated plant pot.
2. A miniature garden in a shoe box.
3. A poster encouraging pupils to join the School Gardening Club.
4. The most impressive sunflower plant grown from provided seeds.
(Class 4 will be judged at the Annual Show in September).
ROSE SHOW
There will be a charge of £1 per entry and a trophy will be awarded to the winner of the following classes:
1. One scented rose in a container.
2. Three hybrid tea roses in a container.
3. Three stems of floribunda roses in a container.
(The rose classes will also be repeated at our Annual Show in September)
TRINITY FAIR ROSE SHOW AND JUNIOR SECTION
In addition to our usual plant stall this year the gardening club added several new competitions to the attractions at Trinity Fair. We were blessed with good weather, lots of help and some very good entries in these new categories. Although we had hoped for more entries in our new rose competition the rain which fell in the few days beforehand ruined many blooms but we were still able to award our new cup to a worthy winner. Congratulation to all winners - prizes were awarded as follows:
Trinity Fair Rose Award Cup: Helen Coles
